Near Miss! is the second chapter from volume eleven of the Horror World of Junji Ito Collection, The Town Without Streets.
Plot[]
Konishi, Kawaguchi and Takashio are three old friends from university. When a passenger plane carrying Takashio loses signal en route, Konishi insists on going out to search, against the advice of his sister and Kawaguchi. They very nearly crash into the plane carrying Takashio. The plane is on fire and badly damaged, but all the passengers look calm; including Takashio, who turns to face his friends before his plane disappears.
The following morning, Takashio's plane is reported crashed with no survivors. The time of the crash was two hours before Kawaguchi and the others encountered the plane.
